What Did Adam Do? Part 42

Continuing our discussion from last week, until there was a Law, covenant, or agreement between God and man, there was no way to sin! Adam and he alone was in covenant with God for the eating of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Eve was not. Had Eve eaten, she would have not sinned. This seems extremely difficult for some to understand. Eve was in the transgression, not the transgressor!! 1 Timothy 2:12-15 Both Adam and Eve passed on to mankind a curse.
Man was created by God. A part of life is death. Death at first carried no pain (as did childbirth for woman). When Adam sinned God changed the effect of death, it now would come with pain. Man would deteriorate, get old, and dissolve back into dust in or out of the grave. There are many examples in the Bible which show man DOES NOT HAVE TO DETEORIATE!! Enoch, Moses, and Caleb are examples that show man DOES NOT have to deteriorate. Animals were not affected nor ws any other creation, that all came with the Flood. No animal has EVER sinned and even though deterioration of their body comes, this was not a curse of sin! Quick death is often considered a blessing because the pain and anguish is not experienced. That man dies, then, is not punishment because of the sin, it is the natural law of cessation. That man dies in deterioration is not punishment, but that pain is associated with that death came from the penalty imposed on Adam and his seed. Eve had had children before she had sinned, with no pain of childbirth. As a part of her participation in the sin of Adam, Eve (and all the rest of the Eve’s until the end of time) women suffer pain in childbirth. Because some individual women do not have birth pains and some die without deterioration, does not change the Law of God. As has been stated many times in this series of studies; the ONLY things Adam of Eve could impose on their children would be PHYSICAL things, not spiritual. Neither Adam nor Eve could affect our spiritual make-up, association, or fellowship with God or the spiritual realm. Each human being born has an INDIVIDUAL responsibility, families, not a ancestors, nor genes answer to the “Judge of all the Earth” for them.
Adam sinned, the Holy Spirit through the apostle Paul writes; but his sin in NO WAY is equal to or the same as nor has the same magnitude as the death of Christ!! Paul’s first argument is that the kind or type of sin was not possible from Adam to Moses. The reason it could be possible after Moses is made clear; there was again a moral law (not the law of the conscience). The law of the conscience already existed before the moral law was given to Adam. The new moral law was the command to keep the Sabbath. This law was not binding on the Gentile or the Jewish women, only the circumcised Jewish male who lived under the Law of Moses!! (Even the circumcised Jewish male who lived and died BEFORE that day the Ten Commandments were given could not commit this type of sin!!) In Romans 5 the Jew was trying to make the faith of Abraham equal to the death of Jesus Christ. The whole passage is given to show the glory and power of the death of Christ-something even to which the sin of Adam could not be compared!! Death and Life are not equivalents!! GOD AND SATAN ARE NOT EQUALS. What the physical punishment given because of the sin of Adam and the participation in that sin by Eve was miniscule compared to the spiritual loss they suffered!! NO PHYSICAL DEATH WHICH WOULD ABOLISH SIN AND RESTORE FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD COULD BE COMPARED!! “For if through the offense of ONE (the) many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by ONE man, Jesus Christ, faith abounded unto (the) many.” Romans 5:15 Who are “the many” you ask? Matthew 20:28 tells us: “ Even as the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and so give His life a ransom for (the) many,” who Paul writes about in Galatians 3:26-27 when the Spirit leads him to write; “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus; For as many (there is your many!!) of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
There is NOTHING that can compare to the grace (plan) of God which included the death of Christ!! This is how Adam is a type of Christ. Because of the sin of Adam all mankind is affected physically so by the death of Christ all affected, spiritually, even to those who did not die on the tree as did Christ!! The SPIRITUAL affects the spiritual, the physical the physical. That is Law!!

What Did Adam Do? Part 41

Many study the fifth chapter of Romans when they consider Adam and his sin. Often they don’t see the overall purpose of Romans or the fifth chapter. The Jew had a argument with the Church of Christ over who the greatest and most important man to have ever lived. The Jew demanded a representative of their ancestry or the originator of their seed to be that man. Abraham not doubt was and is one of the important men of all time in the histories of man but in no sense comparable to Christ Jesus. Neither is anything done in time compare with the work of Christ. The sin of Adam, as important as it was, could not compare with the redemption in Christ. Sin is not comparable to righteousness.
“Through the sin of one.” Satan had been working to bring down the greatest of God’s creation, man. He had been looking for a way to bring them under his subjection as he had the angels who sinned. Adam, the un-approachable one, never seemed to entertain Satan. Eve, the last and most beautiful of all of God’s creative work was his door to Adam. Satan knew God in a way far superior to either Adam or Eve. Knowing God’s utter hatred for sin, he had to get Adam to sin. Eve could not sin in this fashion. The only way Eve could have sinned was to violate the covenant in which God included her; “multiply and replenish the earth.”Genesis 1:28 The amount of time spent with Eve shows the cunning and carefulness of the master of deceit. Adam had been given a law no other man had been given. It would become known as the “moral law.” Unlike other laws given by God at this time, the moral law did not involve the “law of the conscience.” Not detectable by man’s conscience, this sin could be committed by only one man! “ Adam’s transgression” was singularly and totally Adam’s for to Adam and Adam alone was the moral law of sin and death bound. (I fear repeating myself, but it seems many have overlooked this vital consideration!!) This is clearly seen by the fact that to Adam there was alone this possibility. God had told Adam (not Eve) “that the day he ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, that day he died.” Genesis 2:17 I cannot say it often enough, Eve could NOT commit a sin when she was NOT apart of the covenant. This is extremely important in correcting the denominational lie of inborn sin. Since Eve was not accountable to God, if she ate of the tree, her eating would not have been a sin, she was merely “in the transgression.” If you violate a command that is apart of another Law of which you are not covenanted, you have not sinned. One major denomination, today, shows its misunderstanding of this principle, the Seventh Day Adventist. They try to make a command of the Law of Moses binding on the Church of Christ. This CANNOT BE DONE!! We do not and never have “kept the sabbath day holy.”
Listen to the text, again: “by one man sin entered into the world.” Romans 5:12 Can you imagine yourself the ONLY possibility for this sin? “Sin was not imputed when there is no law.” Imputed comes from the Greek word ellogeo and means to set to one’s account, lay to one’s charge. Interestingly, the Holy Spirit tells us this type of “sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law (covenant).” Romans 5:13 “The fruit (results) of Adam’s sin was in full glory and reigned from Adam until Moses,” why?, that sin was not done away, it had born the fruit (given Satan the “how to” to get man to sin, which prevailed and lorded over us. “The soul that sinned, died.” How did this sin reign? “After the similitude of Adam’s transgression.” It was a certain KIND of sin. As man was separated from God when he sinned, the very sin of which Adam participated, was not a sin anyone else could commit. There was NO moral Law so sin or one of this kind dept us separated from God from Adam to Moses!! It was not until the sabbath command that such a law again existed-and again ONLY to those to whom it was given!! No man who was not of the covenant of Moses could commit a sin by violating the sabbath day command!! No man AFTER the nullification of the Law of Moses could sin violating the fourth commandment in the Decalogue!! Only one nation, one part of that nation-the male, not woman could violate that command!! What would happen if a woman under the Law of Moses violated the sabbath command? Nothing, she was not covenanted nor did she have the evidence of that covenant, circumcision!! If Eve was not covenanted, the woman of Israel, and all Gentiles were not covenanted, it would follow that all those who broke a covenant because of the law of sin and death, Romans 8:2 It had to be broken, not inherited!!

What Did Adam Do? Part 40

There are rules for all things. These rules are fixed in fine and written limits, on either side of these limits righteousness cannot be found!! “The secret things belong to the Lord our God; but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 29:29”; “Art thou the first man that was born? Or wast thou made before the hills? Hast thou heard the secret of God? And dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?” Job 15:7-10
There are things man was never intended to know. Man has an insatiable desire to know, the first man is at first noticed to be the same. God’s secrets were not withheld from mankind, this was Satan’s message to Eve. God had “the” designed way or means to satisfy what He had designed into they who were of His image, which would perfectly satisfy man’s inherent longings. Fathers, not the children, are supposed to know best!! There are some things children want that will destroy them and remove happiness. God had a provision, what man desired was against man’s best interest at this time, God had withheld this information for man’s benefit. Like a spoiled brat, man wanted what he wanted, not what was good for him. These “other things” seemed more appetizing than the fellowship of God which man would forfeit. Eve “pitched a fit” and “got her way” so now who do you think got the best of her tantrum? “The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant. Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for He shall pluck my feet out of the net.” Psalms 25:14-15 Man wouldn’t listen to Wisdom, so, man sinned! The same is true of the offspring of Adam and Eve, today!! God had commanded Adam, “Thou shalt not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil,” and Adam could go no further. What did Adam gain by going beyond the law of God? To go beyond these limits righteousness was forfeited. God had provided a “lawful” means to know and man could not advance beyond what God would allow. Man had NO right to seek what God had not allowed! Eve was perfectly happy UNTIL Satan convinced her she wasn’t!! There was NO reason for this seeking, Satan got Eve to ASSUME God would cheat her out of her happiness. Had God EVER shorted Eve or Adam, before? Let the record show that God had said “everything was good and very good” and God cannot lie!! God WOULD PROVIDE!! Of every attainment and object of pursuit there is a right way to go about it, the increasing of happiness among men can only be found through Him who designed man, the young and foolish can never be complete or fulfilled UNTIL they allow the Designer to do His work!! Yet, like Eve, they are listening to the god of this world call the God of heaven and earth, a liar. Like Adam, they all know that their way is better than God’s way. Who else could make them happy but themselves? what makes happiness? GOD!!
To have God continually viewing the soul of man and God’s Holy Spirit through His Word continually governing the instincts and longings of man, perfect consummation of bliss results, man is perfect and perfectly happy!! It can never be otherwise. This was the first estate of our first earthly father, Adam, until his wife convinced him he could not be happy without her-for what did he trade his utopia? Should we be “wise in our own conceits”? Romans 11:25; 12:16 We need to trust God that He knows what is best! When God commands us to attend, we cry “why,” when He commands us to give of our monies, we cry “I cannot afford to!!, when He commands us to be “baptized for the remission of sins” only the wise who trust God, who “believe He is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him” answer-speak, Lord, they servant heareth, command and I will obey for I know that the “way of man” is not in himself. What IF my soul can view both, the commandments of God and the example of His Only Begotten Son, what kind of life would I be living? Listen to wisdom: “I foresaw the Lord always before My face; for He is on My right hand, that I should not be moved. Therefore did My heart rejoice, and My tongue was glad; moreover also My flesh shall rest in hope.” Acts 2:25-26
It is true God had implanted “the desire to know” in His creation, what He did not do was cause them to doubt Him. Religion has the same plight. God has given us a plan of salvation, a plan to worship Him, a plan to remain saved, and a way out of this world with eternal bliss as our end; yet man knows best. How many times do you hear someone say: “my grandfather was a ? (something not mentioned in the Bible) and equate THAT with what God inspired, revealed, and had written down?
